Marrakech
Odd day. Wandered off with one of the boys from the cafe and ended up getting fleeced a little as he decided not to mention any fiscal arrangement until after the deed. Given the circumstances I was quite literally not in a position to bargain. That said, I did get a nice little stash for the evening so hey ho. I hadn't envisaged crossing paying for sex off my list of things to do in life for at least another twenty years. Now I'll have to think of something else to do.
Still. Nice to send the year out with a bang, as it were.
We ended up in Place jamaa El Fna for New Year's Eve. We ate at Ali's again - because we know it's good - then all piled to Cafe de France to sit on the terrace drinking coffee until about 11.30 when we wandered into the square and counted in the New Year. As we didn't have any alcohol we ended up toasting each other with Coca-Cola and orange juice then wandering back and getting a little tipsy on stuff and Nicola's Baileys-esque liqueur.
I have given up smoking. It was only when I was into my New Year that people decided to tell me that we have to be up at some ridiculous hour to get a 9.30am bus to the desert.
I'm not sure what my other resolutions are yet. I'll think of them tomorrow. As to achievements in my 28th year, I'm not entirely sure. I've travelled to five new countries and managed to pack about eight holidays into the equation, I've become self employed, I've shagged in the toilets of the pub where they filmed Priscilla, I've notched up a whole hour - woohoo - of flying time (to be rectified next year), I've been in debt and I've been out of debt. I think having successfully decamped - as it were - to a new country has to be quite groovy. I know it's only temporary but it's something I could only have dreamed of a few years ago, and it has allowed me to shift my focus on the world somewhat.
More travelling next year, and hopefully less working. And perhaps a DS.
