Hurrah! Home again! (Not)
The journey back yesterday was alright. I had a meeting with Terri and her boss in the afternoon which led to a tentative suggestion of bits and pieces to do whilst I'm in France. That would be useful. After that we had lunch at the same place as Saturday, and I had the most gorgeous veal in an Armegnac sauce with fried potatoes which were golden and crispy on the outside and white and fluffy inside. I felt very bad for it, actually.
Serge, the waiter who served us, was a gorgeous, sultry, olive skinned 20-something with a tight white teeshirt and not too much musculature. He had the most adorable shiny white smile and deep brown eyes which you could drown in. In addition, his bottom was beautifully peachy - albeit in raster nasty flanellette trousers - and I would've had him for lunch, save for the fact he wasn't on the menu. Still - he certainly made my CRUELLY KILLED DEAD BABY COW go down well.
Terri and I had a conversation about this. We've both decided we like people with olive skin. I think I shall have to engineer a situation to be surrounded by topless, sultry, teenage continental boys when I'm in France. I'm not sure how to manage that, quite, but I think I might have to head down to Le Grand Lac for a day or so and see what I can bundle into the back of the car.
Terri dropped me back to the station in the afternoon and demonstrated her diplomatic skills. Dropping me outside the station, in the fuck-off-huge Jeep, she just stopped where it was deemed convenient for me to get out. This one bloke stopped next to the car and had a whole go at her in French before she simply turned round - bleached blonde woman in sunglasses and all-black suit - to reply "Piss off." It left him somewhat speechless and he drove off.
Eurostar was slightly more full on the way back so I didn't get a whole table seat to myself. Nonetheless, I got to sit behind a fit boy who kept on stretching up to get his bag out of the rack and letting me see his tummy. Much nicer tummies in First Class - apart from mine, which was enjoying the Steamed Salmon in Ginger and Lemon Sauce just a little too much. No screaming childred, thankfully. No cute serving boys, either.
When I got home, I went to Jon's where I drank and stayed up until 2am watching films.
Today was back at work day after the long weekend. Nothing particularly important or exciting happened but I did get a whole load of website stuff done. Had it confirmed by managementy people that I can indeed work from France. So I will at least have a revenue stream, albeit not a particularly huge one. The point of this is not fiscal, after all.
TIVO down. Pfffffft.
Watched last night's Voyager which was quite a good one. Can't be many to go now before the season finale. Coo!
Text messages from Italian boy. Very suggestive. Conversations with Gaz and Matthew. Might go and see them both in their respective places soon.
