Whee! It's the weekend tomorrow, and I'm off to Brussels for partying and over-indulging!!!
I went in to work at about 11am and did bits and pieces. Nothing too exciting though. The website that is supposed to be delivered tomorrow isn't going to happen, although the design is there and the PHP is on its way to delivering it. I've been distracted by other things (CDs for CEO and fixing laptops) which is mildly irritating. Still - life goes on.
35 days to go!
Minor complication: Philip's brother has decided to go and stay for the first two weeks in August, which is dull. That means I can't be there, although Philip's toying with going over for a week before that (20th July or thereabouts) so I might go then to deposit all my bits and pieces before heading off for two weeks' holiday somewhere else! I would rather be there before mid-August then disappear temporarily than have to sit around tiwddling my thumbs here for two weeks. Bit of a logistical nightmare, but I'm sure we'll sort it.
Philip thinks Matthew looks as if he's just walked out of a Cadinot movie and has said he can come and stay whilst we're there. (He usually doesn't like his space invaded by strangers.) I might go and visit Tony in Marseilles (if he's still there) during the August embargo. I'll be needing a holiday anyway - before my holiday. TIVO closed up 82% today as well so if the trend continues (nothing's closed down for a few days now), I'll be worrying even less!
I got Philip to read my Outcast piece as well and his instant reaction was that it should be sent to a newspaper like the Independent or the Guardian. I was somewhat flattered by the prospect (he writes for the Telegraph) and he has gone off with it to find someone who might want it. I gave it away to Outcast, after all. I'd be prepared to do the same again if it meant I got to write again for money!
The weather readings for the last few weeks at the cottage are pretty stunning. Counting back from today, the temperatures have been 24°, 27°, 25°, 24°, 18°, 22°, 22°, 22°, 19°, 28°, 25°. Can't wait to get there.
I've got a few more grey hairs now and I think they're becoming noticeable. From now on though, they shall be known as "distinguished natural highlights."
Stopped by Alan and Karen's for a drink in the evening. I'd hoped to drag them to the pub but they were eating when I arrived, so we just sat in the garden instead. It was a glorious day. Haven't seen either for ages.
Blimey. I'm going on holiday tomorrow! Rah! Pip says the weather's going to be stonking.
