I am such a child. Today I investigated how I'm going to get to France in August. I know it's a little bit pre-emptive, but it's the most organised I've been for quite a while, really.
I am going to sail. I shall be sailing from Portsmouth in the evening of the 31st of July. That'll mean I sail overnight and will arrive at Le Havre at about 9am on the 1st of August and will have an eight hour drive to St. Mathieu to arrive sometime early evening, hopefully. In time to unpack, get online, drink some wine, and chill.
I have invited Matthew to come with me. I don't think I can cope with the drive all by myself as I'll go mad without the company. He can hang around for as long as he wants and then when he's had enough, I'll drive him up to Limoges airport (about 30 miles away) and he can wander back home. Rah!
Work was really good. I challenged the lack of communication from upstairs and was assured it's not a problem. There will be stuff for me to do after I've left and, as I'm the one who knows the product, I'll be doing it. That's a bit of a load off my mind as it means I know I'll have work whilst I'm away. I don't want a huge amount - just enough to keep me sane, cover my card payments and get me home when I decide it's time. Whenever that will be.
I had a long chat with Philip in the afternoon and I'm assured summer will carry on right up until about October, so I shouldn't feel too concerned about missing July. So with any luck, if the money holds up and the work is forthcoming, I shall not be coming back to the UK until November. Certainly, I'll be back for Christmas and stuff.
Because I have no hot water, I wandered around to Jon's after watching some Ab Fab and eating a lush stir-fry and did some washing. It's so irritating, and my landlady doesn't seem to be around - despite repeated phone calls. Pah! Oh well.
I'm sure I'm gaining vast amounts of weight again. Perhaps it's because I've been really fucked off with work and eating chocolate all day every day? Jeremy is coming over tomorrow and I'm going to feel a right blob considering his six pack and firm itsy little buttocks. Grrrr. Ah well - it didn't bother him last time!!!
So. Because nobody can put us up this weekend, I checked into a hotel in Kensington which is costing me £70 a night. Ever eager to know what the hotel is like, I did a quick search on the net and found out it's a rather storming 4 star which usually costs £225 a night. Which is nice. Graham used to live nearby and concurs that it's a rather lovely hotel.
Result! I had another letter from Sainsbury's apologising and telling me they're going to stock Attitude and Gay Times in Newbury! Hurrah! Attitude were thrilled and are now pressing to have it stored in every Sainsbury's store. Oooh! I feel quite happy about that!
