Today's mood: :-)

Well - it has to be said that I had my reservations about today but it all worked out quite nicely. I met my parents a little later than planned - mainly because I was delayed at Tripodia - and went and bought Dad a memory card for his new digital camera (his birthday present) and Mum a bread maker (her new Christmas present after the coffee machine incident).

I sat and watched some TV in the afternoon (hurrah ONdigital) and showed the pictures from Québec around. The photo of Martin caused a bit of a stir as far as Mum was concerned because I mustered "Here's someone I, er, met, whilst I was there," to which she responded, "I do wish you'd stop just picking people up."

Quite how she knows this concerns me slightly.

"You lot just wear these red ribbons..."
"If only it were that easy..."

The potential move to France wasn't greeted with particular enthusiasm. Ah well. Had to explain that finding a job woudn't really be a problem after an "I don't see why you want to throw a good job away" conversation. I say conversation, it was a one-way opining.

The apprehensions about going for a Chinese meal for Dad's birthday were misfounded. It turned out we all shared a huge Chinese New Year banquet for four that was stonking. Everyone loosened up after the first couple of glasses (or bottles in my case) of wine and the evening was really quite pleasant after all. Company was nice and everything!

My new MZE60 seems to be chomping its way through batteries. I shall be taking that back to Richer Sounds on Saturday and demanding a replacement. Very annoying. Cute machine, though.

Have continued to neglect mentioning Dublin. Have bad stomach cramps, although the meal/wine combination helped cover them up. Might be something to do with suddenly drinking loads of caffeine-coffee after a while of decaf. Not sure.
