A non-smoking day
Today's mood: :-)

Today was mainly housework. I swept, cleaned, swept, washed... generally everything I could do to make the place decidedly respectable before Philip and his mother arrive on Thursday. I also cleared the drive and plonked Mildred on it so Pip's Jag's usual place would be free.

The chestnut tree over the road has been shedding for quite a while now. I managed to collect a big fruit bowl full of chestnuts which I'm going to think about doing something with. Brian's got a big book of chestnut recipes but I'm not sure I've enough to do anything spectacular. You can make bread with them, apparently. Chestnuts were big industry round here until the French government decided otherwise.

Limoges in the evening although nothing particularly interesting was happening, really. I popped my head into Glu Glu to see a guy who was a bit of a cross between Tony and Ryan Philippe which was pleasant. They were telling lots of jokes but my "Difference between DHL/American Airlines? DHL to you door, AA to your desk" one didn't go down quite as well as it has elsewhere. Ah well. All the bars are gearing up for their Hallowe'en specials!

I discovered my first pretty wild mushroom on the way home. Not only was it incredibly pretty, but seriously hallucinogenic as well! I was driving home and noticed these two huge big red mushrooms, which looked quite nice. I picked one of them and took it round to Brian's for closer investigation. If you can put up with some mild vomiting, then the middle bit above the stem is quite good. If you feed them to reindeer, you can drink their piss (eeuw) which contains all of the hallucinogens but none of the toxins. We fed them to the chickens as an experiment. Tomorrow they may well be:

  • dead
  • mashed off their little chicken tits
If it's the latter, we'll see if the eggs are any good.

It looks as if I'm going to stay here after the New Year as well. I did some sums today and it's doable. Rah! I might not have to work again until March!
