Well. Clearly my news wasn't considered as earth shattering as I'd have hoped, because I didn't have anyone rush to my desk sobbing and yelling "please don't leave us, James!" - although one of the secretaries from upstairs came down and looked sad at my desk for a little bit.
I'm not entirely sure senior senior management know yet. Hm.
NASDAQ is well fucked. I'm not going to bother looking for a few weeks because it's only going to upset me, I'm sure. Anyway. What goes down goes up, and I've got three months to worry about things like that. So I'm not going to.
Printed out the Visa form for New Zealand. Intrigued by the "Name and address of any relatives, friends contacts I have in New Zealand." There are three columns, the last of which is "Relationship." I wonder if "gay.com shag" will be OK?
Had ideas for a new homepage which will involve lots of effort and some PHP and things. I might leave it until my "sabbatical" and then learn about other things at the same time. We'll see - not too fussed right now. The ideas are groovy though.
Had quite a long chat with Owen as I reinstalled SuSE. It was to try and get rid of KDE2 which is wibbly as far as I'm concerned. Reinstalled using YaST instead of YaST2 which seemed much better. There's bound to be something I've forgotten but I can install new things as I need them. Desktop fonts still seem larger than they should be; I will have to have a fiddle. I preferred the original KDE. I might revert.
Had low-fat pizza for dinner with loads of Rocket and a pesto dressing. Very yummy.
