So, well, here we are again.
I would say I'm thrilled to be back, but I'm not particularly. I suppose the most excitement I'm going to get over the next few days will be imparting the gory details of my voyages around the world to anyone, frankly, who'll listen. I'm looking forward to showing people the pictures!
Ed picked Jon and I up from the airport. It turned out he needed little convincing after all (the promise of duty free fags was enough!) and was dutifully there on time as we landed to ferry us back to the centre of the universe. (That'll be Newbury then!)
The flight was relatively uneventful. We woke up to snow this morning which was really quite pretty. It was only until too late that we discovered there was actually anything to do in Narita, as someone on the plane told us about their adventures there. I would've liked to have gone out and had a wander round last night but after the first gin and tonic I was ready to sleep.
Breakfast was interesting. It was Westan (sic) style, which involved a bastardised mix of charcuterie and, er, scrambled eggs with toast, and some funny little baby faggot like things which were quite nice. I was tempted to try the Eastern style breakfast but wasn't really in the mood for experimenting. Miso soup for breakfast doesn't really appeal.
We forgot to wake up in time to get emergency seats this time, so we had the row back. The flight wasn't too bad though as we had plenty of room anyway. The flight steward, Neil, was nice with big blue baby eyes. He even defended me against the woman sitting behind who pressed the call button whenever I reclined my seat to ask him to ask me to put it forward again. Eventually, he told her to stop ringing the bell and pointed out that business class had more legroom. She was just being arsey though - there was plenty of room.
I had a bit of a film watching frenzy on the flight back: "The 6th Day" (fun), "Beautiful" (amusing but a bit smulchy) and "Woman on Top" which I thought was the best of the three I watched. I was in the mood for comedy though.
Not much doing this evening. Got some soluble aspirin to gargle with to try and get rid of this throat thingie. I can't gargle. I will make a doctor's appointment if they're not shifting by midweek.
