Today's mood: :-/

Hotel Nikko Narita, Tokyo

I got my hours wrong this morning and Jon got Toby out of bed by ringing the doorbell to tell him he was outside with teh taxi, but I was still in the shower thinking I had another hour or so so I was taking my time. Oh well.

The flight here was uneventful and I managed to get in a decent amount of sleep so my body's feeling about right at the moment. I watched "Meet the Parents" on the flight which was quite amusing.

It's cold here - in comparison to Sydney, at least. We're at 8 degrees which is probably ideal for aclimatising to the UK tomorrow.

Have been trying to convince Ed that he wants to give Jon and I a lift from the airport. Haven't had a response yet; Japan is GSM1900.

I need to do more travelly stuff, I have decided. Jon is feeling the same. I'm really enjoying his company actually - he's a great laugh.

The Japanese seem quite, well, rude, really. They don't queue and push lots. I guess that's a cultural thing but for a restrained and polite (sort of) Englishman it's quite bizarre and almost frustrating. Everything is in vending machines; quite odd. I think I would like to come back here and spend some proper time here rather than flit through in transit. Something for next year, perhaps.

Foot and mouth disease has apparently made it to Herefordshire. Mum has asked that I don't come down at the weekend as there are cases in Hungerford and farm Coates is so far unaffected. I think the worry is I might bring it with me. Which would be bad. Also, there are cases near the airfield I'd fly from and there's always a risk I might bring it back with me from there after my lesson.

Work on Tuesday will be interesting. Whilst it will be back to the normal I don't think it will hold the same appeal - which was tenuous anyway!
