Today's mood: :-)

Sydney

Seems Australian mosquitos are more attracted to white, fleshy, Englishmen than tanned, floppy-haired spunk-munchkins are. That said, I've not actually managed to stay awake long enough to go out of an evening, which is mildly irritating.

Spent the day wandering around aimlessly, taking in salads and nice healthy foodstuffs (including scooners of Toohey's New) and generally chilling. The weather is incredibly hot and humid (about 25 degrees) which isn't a problem, though the humidity makes it difficult to sleep - as well as the constant plague of blood-hungry mozzies who are relentless in their attacks. I will buy a plug thing tomorrow.

Huge IT skill shortage here, apparently. Tempting. Dave says that'll wear off within a week.

BBC World has much funkier music than News 24. I can't remember whether I noted that before.

I am aiming to have my first night out tomorrow night. Jon will have shaken off his shadow so we'll be able to get up to some whoring. Rah!

I should venture further around town than Oxford Street, probably.

Jon's bought himself a pre-pay mobile. I shall be following suit tomorrow after having discovered how Orange now charge for roaming calls. (Through the nose, it would appear.) Am not impressed; they're becoming less and less competitive. They have "simplified" their roaming charges, which means I now pay 70p a minute here regardless of destination. Texting is still cheap though, so that's not too much of a problem.

It's like England, but not. There's a huge SanFran influence in the architecture as well. And all the road signs are American stylee. Quite surprised by the number of European cars here. Have seen a Mini and a Triumph Stag. Oh - and an Austin Healey too. Very bizarre.
