OPIE Patches for Third-Party Software Directory Information
===================================== =====================
This directory contains patches for third-party software that will allow
these programs to use the OPIE library to provide OTP authentication.
These patches require that you have already downloaded and compiled the
OPIE software distribution. Installation of all of the OPIE components
is not required, however, it is strongly recommended.
These patches are provided AS IS with NO WARRANTY under the same license
terms as the core OPIE software. They are intended as examples as to how
the OPIE library can be used to easily add OTP support to many popular
applications and may not be suitable for production use. Like OPIE itself,
we are interested in proper bug reports if you encounter any problems,
but cannot make any guarantees of support.
Files in this directory
=======================
The files in this directory are provided as new-style context diffs with
documentation at the beginning of the file, all of which is GNU Zip
compressed. We are not providing alternate formats for these patches
because they are intended for more advanced users and system administrators.
The file qpopper2.1.4+opie.patch-1.2.gz contains patches to the Qualcomm
Popper daemon to add support for OTP in POP3 via the response to the USER
command (the same way that the OPIE FTP daemon works). Other methods of
specifying alternate authentication schemes in POP3 transactions are NOT
supported. The Qualcomm Popper daemon can be obtained from the URL:
ftp://ftp.qualcomm.com/quest/unix/servers/popper/qpop2.1.4-r3.tar.Z
The file popclient-3.1+opie.patch-2.0.gz contains patches to the
popclient program to add support for OTP in POP3 via the response to the USER
command (the same way that the OPIE patches to the Qualcomm Popper daemon
present the challenge). Other methods of specifying alternate authentication
schemes in POP3 transactions are NOT supported. The popclient program can
be obtained from the URL: ftp://ftp.mal.com/pub/pop/popclient-3.1.tar.gz
The file ncftp-1.9.5+opie.patch-2.0.gz contains patches to the
ncftp program to add support for OTP in FTP via the response to the USER
command (the same way that the OPIE FTP daemon presents the challenge).
Other methods of specifying alternate authentication schemes in FTP
transactions are NOT supported. The ncftp program can be obtained from the
URL: ftp://ftp.cs.unl.edu/pub/ncftp/ncftp-1.9.5.tgz
