OPIE Software Distribution                                Directory Information
==========================                                =====================

This directory contains the One-Time Passwords In Everything (OPIE) software
distribution. OPIE is an implementation of the One-Time Password (OTP)
standard specified in RFC 1938. OPIE should be downward-compatible with
Bellcore's S/Key(TM) Version 1 software. OPIE is derived in part from the BSD
Unix software developed at UC Berkeley, in part from the S/Key (TM) software
developed at Bell Communications Research (Bellcore), and also includes
enhancements developed at NRL. The term "S/Key" is a trademark of Bellcore and
should not be used to refer to OPIE.

Files in this directory
=======================

The file opie-2.3.tar.gz is the main OPIE Version 2.3 distribution. This
software should work on any POSIX-compliant *IX system (see the documentation
for more details). It will probably not work on systems that lack POSIX
compliance.

Subdirectories
==============

The 'old' subdirectory contains old versions of the OPIE software.

The 'contrib' subdirectory contains various software packages that will
interoperate with the OPIE software distribution. They are in this directory
for the convenience of OPIE users.

The 'patches' subdirectory contains patches to third-party software on
the 'net to use the OPIE library to provide OTP authentication. The files in
this directory are provided as examples.

The 'test' subdirectory contains experimental versions of OPIE software.
