Now we've figured out the reason I was staying in bed so late was because my radio alarm clock thingie had set itself to BST without me noticing, I'm very spritely in the mornings. Today I managed 9.30am, although it was a bit of a struggle.
I ran again today. My 1.5 miles took 17 minutes, although I walked about one third of it as I still think I'm desperately unfit. Well, I know I am. It's all these years of being passive that's done it to me.
Jon, Liam and Nicola arrive tomorrow. I'm quite looking forward to seeing some friendly faces. They are bringing essential supplies: spot cover up, felt-tipped pens (for drawing on maps) and a newspaper. Amongst other things.
We've found the hornets' nest in the Chestnut tree over the road. It's not too bad now, but I might call the fire brigade and have them deal with it.
Whilst I checked my mail - and finally received communication from Jamie - Pip did some star gazing. In the end we stood and watched a three dim stars in perfect triangle formation travel due south from the zenith. They took about ten minutes to disappear over the horizon so Philip thinks they were satellites. Intrigued, I then found a nice Sky Map on the Internet (www.skymaps.com) and wandered out for a quick gaze. So far, I've identified only three constellations, but the street lamp doesn't help. A trip to Le Grand Puyconnieux (which might also mean Bloody Pointless Hill, although we're not sure) one night is in order - but not tonight as I've been drinking. Boo hiss!
To make up for the fact I can't get to a nice dark sky, I did see three more shooting stars, although they were less impressive than the ones we saw last week. But stars shooting they were.
