Prague

My last day in Prague. Boo hiss!

I didn't actually get out of the flat until about 3pm because I was writing postcards and doing other things like packing and washing. Or washing and packing, even.

After some mail checking, I braved the number 11 tram to Wenceslas Square Metro and had a McDonald's - something you have to do when abroad, really. That's sad but one of the tourism concessions I make. Whilst trying to eat my £2 Big Mac Meal I kept on getting interrupted by kids wanting the "win something" tab from my drink, only to be ushered out very quickly by staff. Very strange.

The other concession - which was the point of the journey - was to buy a Prague teeshirt. Unfortunately, a lot of them weren't particularly subtle but I managed to get quite a tasteful one for 300 Kcr. It's white with a cyan and black skyline motif. I like it anyway.

Tourist concessions are: send postcards, take photos, buy teeshirt, have McD's to check world-wide quality claims.

More drinking and eating in the evening. Graham wandered back from work at about 7pm and I wandered back to the apartment for about 7.30, just in time for a little post-tourism lie down. I've had a lot of those over the last few days. Graham lay down and listened to his relaxation tape which had such desperately irritating panpipe music that I had to go and have a cigarette out of the bedroom window.

Martin wandered over at about 9.30pm and we went out to a traditional Czech pub for eating. In the name of healthiness, I had pork which was cooked in deep-fried cheese batter with fried potatoes. I don't understand how a nation of lard eaters can breed such lithe and lovely youngsters. Oh well.

Off to Husa after the meal for coffee and more Becherovka. Very yummy indeed.

However, certainly the most bizarre part of the holiday has been sitting in Piano Bar - near the big TV tower - mouthing to Kylie and then hearing some Czech male voice choir perform "Hello Dolly." In Czech. I high-kicked my way out of the pub (to "New York New York" in Czech) which raised eyebrows.

Freaky.

Back to Graham's for more Becherovka and music student.

Rah!
