Today's mood: :-)

Sydney

I woke up quite late this morning and didn't go out because I'm feeling a little worse for wear with this cold which is trying to take a hold of me. I am drinking lots of liquid (the stuff packed with vitamin C, though) and taking aspirin in a hope to ward it off before Friday. I don't think I could cope with the flight with a cold, either.

So instead of being a tourist, I ended up writing my postcards, and it would appear I've written a whole load. I hadn't realised how many address labels I brought with me but I'm going to be spending about AUS$30 on postage! (That's 23 cards - oops!). I am going to have to make a list so I remember not to send cards to people from my next holiday who've had them from this one!!

Toby asked me yesterday what my goal in life was and I realised I don't have a master plan. I've always just been happy being, well, happy really which leaves me somewhat directionless. So long as I have a roof and a smile I think I'll survive, but it would be nice to have something to aim for.

It's a shame that dreams require some form of funding, or more importantly an income. After having spent time here (and Québec as well) I think it's fair to assume my future in Newbury is in doubt, what with it being piss dull. So I need a goal for my 30th birthday, and it's probably going to be something like live somewhere else in the world and be glamorous. I'm not sure. Short term, I'm going to get my PPL. After that, I'll up it to a CPL and that could then form the basis of whatever it is new I want to do elsewhere. I still have to tie that in with the French thing but that's not impossible.

Oh - and I am going to Prague when I get home.

Toby had his shift cancelled this evening so we took a train down to Circular Quay and then walked over the Harbour Bridge. I was toying with climbing it but I think it's too late to book now. The Opera House looks better from a little bit above it, but the sunset was overcast so I don't think the pictures will look that good. We'll see.

I mean, look at Toby. Left a well paid management job which had him living rent free in Central London to come here and study and he's as happy as a bunny in a cabbage patch.

We had Australian fish and chips tonight. I was tempted to order Octapus (sic) and chips but couldn't bring myself because it looked quite cute - albeit it on a frying plate.

Had a little drive and some scenery viewing, which was fun, then headed round to say goodbye to Mark and (M)Adam who are flying back to the UK tomorrow.
