Sydney
I didn't wake up until way after midday which was due simply to the amount of bouncing I've been doing over the last few days. But then I am on holiday so it really doesn't matter.
I'm starting to wish I'd taken more time off work to stay here as I'm now a week into the holiday and I've been hit by the sudden realisation I have to go home in about six days. I will be coming back though! I've told Toby I'll probably come over for New Year.
I have looked into flying to Melbourne for a couple of days but it looks as if it's going to be prohibitively expensive. Online prices are about AUS$406 and it turns out Virgin Blue don't fly direct to Melbourne.
I did some washing because I was starting to run out of things to wear. Amusingly, the washing powder Tobes uses is Omomatic. That made me giggle.
Today I did some touristy things. I took a train down to Circular Quay and had a walk around the Opera House. I wandered around the Botanic Gardens as well and got harrassed by two old queens. That'll be my job one day, although I've probably taken on the role earlier than anyone would expect.
I got a whole load of photographs of the Opera House and the Harbour Bridge in - I'm turning into quite the little tourist. I sent Mum and Matthew postcard SMSes (which reminds me I need to buy postcards tomorrow) and then headed up into town.
I had initially planned to go out but after Toby's gorgeous lasagne and some Voyager, I decided to stay in instead. Probably a wise move because at some stage in the night (not sure when) I was woken to see the most impressive storm I think I've seen since I witnessed a real-life monsoon in 1985. It was a bit like the downpour I got caught in last week but longer lasting and more violent. My washing - on the balcony - ended up wetter than when it had come out of the washing machine!
I have some more touristy stuff to do tomorrow although I'm not entirely sure what yet.
