Today's mood: :-/

AC250: 1800 local time

This Beechcraft 1900D is even teenier than the plane we took from Montréal Dorval to Québec! There are 20 seats, and the pilot and first officer have two of those. Still - it's nice to be able to see out of the front of the plane and see all the buttons and whizzy bits.

Boy in seat behind is rather lovely. I have been reading Attitude and lingering over the nearly-nude-boy pages just in case he fancies a shag in the loos or something. I think, however, it's unlikely.

Geoff and Julie dropped me at the airport at 1530 which meant I had a swift and painless check in, pretty much. In French as well. I think I could've safely had an hour's grace if I felt the need, although the check in queues were busy when I trundled past to pick up my tax rebate form.

Julie made us crêpes for breakfast which were particularly yummy. I sat and demolished a whole load and I think that was probably a good idea because I'm not entirely convinced we'll have food on this flight. She apologised in the car for having been a bit stressed over the last few days, but as I thought she's got a bit frantic what with having a house load of people to entertain who she doesn't really know. Understandable, although I could've done without being the dumping ground on a couple of the days. Still - no harm done. And to be honest I understood the score so the apology was unnecessary, but it was nice of her and welcomed.

Pilot's cute. I want to learn to fly. But not because of him - because I can see everything and it looks fun.

AC3076: 0414 GMT

As we came in to land at Ottawa, I could see everything through the cockpit windows which was rather fun. Landing was nice and gentle and everything.

Followed the cute boy from the seat behind and dawdled deliberately so I could follow him up the stairs into the terminal building. Grrrr. Very edible.

Sat around Ottawa airport for about an hour and bought some duty free stuff for people back home. Now that I'm officially not smoking, I bought fags for Owen. He can share them with Jon or something. That said, Julie gave me some Maple Syrup and I'm toying with giving it to Jon simply because I know he'll cook more with it more than I will and it's better for him than 400 Gauloise Blondes.

I heard a real person say "Aboot."

I bought Mark a toy moose and some squishy mounties as well for people I might've forgotten.

I almost got a business class upgrade. They'd oversold the flight and so asked for six volunteers (of which I was the second) to give up their seats and fly tomorrow. The deal was that you'd get upgraded tomorrow, a hotel tonight, and a $500 voucher to fly with Air Canada again. It would've been worth it just for the free flight voucher, to be honest. Unfortunately, after the six disembarked, they decided they only needed one person after all so I missed out. Apparently there's not much to do in Ottawa anyway so perhaps I'm not missing much.

When I left Heathrow I pre-booked my return seats so I am sitting in an emergency seat with bucket loads of legroom. I must remember to do that when I book the flights to Sydney. I have to work out whether I want to fly via Bangkok (boys) or Tokyo (gadgets). I'll probably book them tomorrow after some consultation with Jon as he's flying with me.

I'm a bit sad to be coming home. I was enjoying that, after all. It's a shame I was having so much difficulty with the Quebécois accent although communication was never an issue.

The flight is a bit bumpy. The chief steward is camp as tits! I will be back in England in five hours. How dull.

I have stolen an Air Canada blanket. Ooh - I'm so naughty!

In flight movies are "The Replacements" and "Jaws."

Perhaps not.
