     ***  NOTE ***

     version takes a few minutes to run when NTK opens or exits.

Newton Toolkit for Windows, version 1.6b3 Release Notes
////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

* Status as of 10/17/96

This release of Windows NTK replaces any previous versions you
may have received. It contains numerous bug fixes, including
many that you've sent to WinNTKBugs. The revised comm code
included in this release should resolve most of the problems
with dropped connections and spurious error dialogs seen in
previous releases. Unfortunately, the nodebug version of this
release still does not run on 3.1 with Win32s; however, we have
included a debug version that does run under this configuration.
We apologize for this inconvenience.

* Known Problems

The nodebug version of WinNTK 1.6b3 does not run under
Windows 3.1 w/ Win32s. This problem will be resolved in the final
release. In the meantime, we have included a debug version that
does run on these systems. Note that it is significantly larger
(and slower to launch/exit) than the nodebug versions supplied
for Win95 and NT systems. We apologize for this inconvenience.

Taking screen shots from the Newton is unreliable due to comm problems.

Online help (F1) does not work.

Printing from browsers does not work.

There are several problems having to do with projects, user protos and
layouts being in different directories. There are no known problems when
all three are in the same directory or the user protos and layouts are in
sub-directories of the directory containing the project.

Support for proportional viewBounds is not quite complete.

Restrictions on the build order of project items as described
under Build Sequences (p. 4-52) of the NUG are not enforced.
