System Architect, LIFFE , September 1998 to December 2004
Specification and design of the LIFFE Connect for Futures platform. Implementation of system on two E10K systems. Implementation to go-live of same. Troubleshooting and testing of E10k configuration. Configuration and Installation of Veritas Volume manager and Veritas Filesystem. Installation and Troubleshooting of Sun HA cluster on E10k's and E250's. Documentation of various system components. Specification of Wave Division Multiplexing (WDM) solution for Inter-site fail-over with extended single-mode fibre interconnects.

While working at Imperial College I installed a number of Macintosh network systems, developed a Motif based application interfacing with PV-Wave in C and been responsible for Software and Hardware procurement for the group. During my time at Cadence Design I helped develop a GUI to the Order generation facility in Tcl/Tk and also administrated the Manufacturing cluster consisting of HP's , Sun's , AIX and Dec systems.

while working for the Department of Computing I have helped the department of computing install their latest Sun Workstations and HP's. During this time I installed GNATS, the Cygnus Inc. bug tracking software and implemented a number of system utilities in Perl.
Hot-line Support Engineer, Sun Micro Systems, November 1993 to July 1994
In November 1993 I started to work as a contractor for Sun Micro systems UK on their hot-line as a Customer Support Engineer, using Sun's Call Tracker software and Sun-solve. With Sun I have worked extensively in a Solaris 1 and 2 environment and attended System Administration courses. I assisted customers in the following areas:
- Simple debugging of Kernel cores shipped from a customers site.
- Installations of Solaris 1 and 2 and talking a customer through the same.
- Debugging customer code - within the framework of product support.
- Remote diagnosis of problems and shipping appropriate patches.
- Advising customer on potential solutions to their software requirements.
- General Network and Machine security advice.
Hot-line Support Engineer, Imperial College, January 1991 to November 1993
Concurrent with my degrees I was a help desk Advisor for the Imperial College Centre for Computer Services, using the Apriori database. Apriori is a call tracking and incident management software package. I gained experience in rapid development of X/Motif tools using Xdesigner. I also setup a Sun Workstation installing a number of software products and customising the kernel.

At Imperial I passed a Computing Science Masters at Imperial College, covering such topics as Artificial Intelligence, Distributed Systems, Neural Networking and Deductive Databases. My Masters thesis involved the processing of Natural Language queries against the Apriori database of known answers. I have also developed software for remote retrieval of data for SQL queries, using RPC's in a UNIX environment.
