Bridge-Mode IP Tunnel

Tunneling is a method of creating a Virtual Private Network of two or more Ethernet LAN's that are physically connected via an IP network such as the Internet.

Ethernet packets from each LAN are encapsulated in IP/UDP and sent over the IP network (Internet) to the tunnel partners connected to the other remote LAN's. With our Data Encryption option, the packets can also be encrypted for extra security.

In this bridge-mode tunnel, any and all protocols selected for tunneling are sent to the remote LAN sites. For example, a tunneling KarlBridge can selectively tunnel particular protocols (such as Novell IPX) and bridge others (such as IP) while denying others (such as AppleTalk). For more information on protocol filters, see our Protocol Filtering page.
