Announcing TurboCell Software Upgrade

KarlNet, Inc. announced today an upgrade to TurboCell,
the most widely used protocol for fixed wireless Internet
Service Provider networks, to be available first quarter
2000. The high-speed TurboCell protocol (formerly known
as CellWave) been extended to provide better security,
throughput, and management capabilities for wireless Internet
Service Providers.
Built on KarlBridge software in use in over 100,000 systems
worldwide, with the largest install base of fixed wireless
Internet Service Provider networks, KarlNet's ISP software
effectively supports wireless ISP connections in outdoor
Point-to-Multipoint environments. The TurboCell protocol
brings its incredible throughput improvements even in
networks where none of the wireless clients detect each
others' transmissions, which is crucial for the wireless
ISP.
TurboCell is an extension of the IEEE 802.11 standard,
running on standard 802.11 hardware such as Lucent's WaveLAN
platform. The use of hardware meeting international standards
allows ISP's to capitalize on decreased hardware costs,

each wireless user is on a private LAN with every other

systems over the wireless link!
